About us

Teen Moms Fresh Start  has been providing community support since April of 2008 and was founded by Tanya L. Taylor, mother to a teen mom herself.

Our Philosophy is that all members of society need to be treated equally and exposed to the tools needed to live successfully. It is important for people of the community to be a part of the solution to the many problems we face today. The programs we offer touch on all developmental issues including finances, health, parenting and more.

The definition of success to Teen Moms Fresh Start is: seeing a decrease in violence, drug addiction, gang dependency, teen pregnancy and an increase in high school graduates, job production, communal sports / arts / music and community supporting community.

Together, we can provide the support, knowledge and assistance needed to build strong foundations within our communities.

"16 and pregnant, 30 years later"
Tanya's Biography

"I discuss a situation that I thought I would never find myself in.  Sex was such a taboo word and was not discussed openly.  Our bodies physically change to prepare for incredible futures and families. If we are taught to look at ourselves and life with respect and admiration, perhaps our youth can begin to make more educated decisions about dating and sex based on self respect and understanding.

I attended college in Deleware where I had a double major in Psych and Nursing.  However, due to my battle with Gastroparesis, a chronic and deadly digestive disease, and raising my daughter alone, I was unable to complete my nursing clinicals. I have been on the brink of death and beaten it on more than one occasion.  I am living with strength to fulfill my goals and dreams with not only this organization, but advocating for those suffering with this silent illness through GP & ME Global as well. During the years I spent in hospitals and doctors offices, my life took many detours.  Incredible detours that prepared me for all we are doing today.

As a survivor living with Gastroparesis and a mother who struggled with the effects of having a pregnant teenager, I want to make sure others are equipped with the knowledge and support needed to make the best decisions they can for their lives and situations."
